What’s next? Involving the target group!

After some first sessions it can be said that involving the target group is not an easy task.

The first session at the CJD in Germany have been reported as difficult:

  • participants did not let other group members speak
  • participants judged the statements given by others
  • participants easily had a temper
  • participants got physical

Hence the trainer needed to take the time, calm down the group and adapt the surroundings and settings to the group needs and possibilities of action. With regularity, slowly trust and confidence emerged in the group; participants started to join the lessons with interest and a group feeling came up. The information that a visit to the museum will take place had been a good motivator for the group. The visit was well appreciated and will be repeated and the end of the implementation phase.

The project Visualize: An innovative training concept for strengthening the tolerance and soft skills of young people, addresses especially these skills by equipping the youngsters with tolerance and overall soft skills by looking at art and responding to each others comments.
